Stand-up Workshop

August 2021

A small stand-up comedy workshop for girls, trans and nonbinary youth aged 10-14. The workshop was in person, and limited to 12 participants:  a gathering of a diverse group of young people with a focus on stand-up comedy, social justice, and connecting with each other. The stand-up workshop was co-facilitated by the amazing comics Fareeha Khan and Nadia Pinder, and the participant's comedy mentor and social justice facilitator was Nadia Pinder. Dance parties were facilitated by the hilarious and fun Cocoon Central Dance Team. The week culminated with a variety showcase and performance put on by the campers for the community, open to the public. The weeklong workshop was held at the beautiful Cottonwood Community Center (203 Driggs Ave) in Greenpoint, Brooklyn from August 2-6, 2021.
